Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate Feed Grade

Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate is an odorless blue crystal that readily dissolves in water. It is also soluble in methanol, glycerol and slightly soluble in ethanol. Copper Sulfate, sometimes referred to as Blue Vitriol or Bluestone, is a readily available and economic source of copper.

Uses

Copper is an important dietary supplement in animal feeds. Old Bridge Feed Grade Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate is especially designed to meet the stringent requirements of the feed industry. Feed Grade Copper Sulfate is free flowing and has excellent absorbent properties.

It is 100 percent minus 30 mesh. Coarse Crystals Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate can be used to destroy algae in water supplies. It controls tadpole shrimp in flooded rice fields and is used as a sewer treatment to destroy roots.

Feed Crystals Copper Sulfate can be used as an ingredient in Bordeaux Mixture sprays as a fungicide to control plant diseases. It is an ingredient in wood treating chemicals to protect against mildew and rotting. In industrial applications, Old Bridge Copper Sulfate finds use in production of chemicals, dyes and pigments, in the steel industry for pickling and plating and as a floatation reagent in recovery of zinc and lead in mining.

Old Bridge Copper Sulfate Feed Crystals and Coarse Crystals are registered with the Environmental Protection Agency for pesticide applications (EPA Reg. No.46923-4). Please refer to the EPA approved labels for specific instructions.

Storage

Copper Sulfate should be stored in a cool, dry place. Keep containers closed. Solutions of Copper Sulfate should be stored in tanks fabricated of Type 316 Stainless Steel, rubber-lined steel tanks or plastic tanks.

Safe Handling

Copper Sulfate is acidic and causes severe eye irritation. It may be irritating to the skin and may cause sensitization reactions in certain individuals. Avoid breathing the dust as it may be irritating to the upper respiratory tract. Contact with eyes and skin should be avoided through the use of safety goggles and rubber gloves. In case of eye contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for 15 minutes and call a physician. If Copper Sulfate is ingested, give large amounts of milk or water. Call a physician. Contaminated clothing should be thoroughly washed before reuse. Refer to Old Bridge Material Safety Data Sheet entitled “Copper Sulfate.”

Environmental Hazards

Copper Sulfate is toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. If product is spilled, comply with Federal, State and local regulations on reporting spills. Refer to Old Bridge Material Safety Sheet and labels for further details.
